Can a leader at The Rock Church smoke and have an occasional drink?
Paul points out in scripture that everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. At The Rock Church we encourage those who are leading to avoid these temporary pleasures for long term impact. Smoking and drinking, while socially acceptable, can present a double standard and at the very least confuse those who we are called to influence. There is nothing in the word of God which tells us we cannot smoke or drink, but rather we deny ourselves of these potentially dangerous vices for the purposes of honoring God by denying self.
