CAN AN AESTHETICIAN PERFORM LASER TREATMENTS?

0

The use of a laser is a medical act that must be done under a physicians license. Under BC 2.205(2)(a) a licensee must complete 6 hours of training before he or she uses a laser to remove hair, and the removal must be done under a physicians supervision. The Wisconsin Administrative Code does not require education requirements for other types of laser treatments, however, the Department recommends that licensees review their scope of practice and/or contact private counsel before continuing with any laser treatment. A licensed physician does not need to be present to supervise the delegated act.
