Can an employee return to work with medical limitations or restrictions?
Yes, the District has a Transitional Duty return to work program. After receiving a full medical release or release with restrictions, an employee should report to NISD Risk Management, unless otherwise instructed by their Director or Principal, prior to returning to their original workplace. Employees with a full medical release will receive instruction, counsel and a return to duty form (Employee Placement Status Form) to give to their Supervisor upon reporting to work. Employees returning to work with restrictions or limitations will be assisted in finding placement in their home department, or in another department based on restrictions and job availability. Risk Management is available to assist with any aspect of the Workers’ Compensation program. Please do not hesitate to call 397-8720 for assistance.
