Can and will humans colonise space?

Yes and no. YES. We have a space station where six astronauts can live and work. That could be described as a colony. NO. As far as ordinary people living their lives and raising families as they do in a village, it’s not possible. The difficulties are immense. An extreme amount of support from Earth is required for the astronauts to stay alive. Every tiny part of daily life needs high technology to accomplish in space. It is the most hostile environment humans have ever experienced. ————————————–… A few colony requirements (Present cost is about $1000 per pound to send to space): ~Air pressure ~Renewable food supply ~Water (with total recycling) ~Gravity ~Private space for each individual ~Waste removal; liquid, solid and gaseous ~Interaction with society. (Children need friends their own age, single adults need to meet and date, religious functions, law enforcement, schooling, emergency technicians, etc.
