Can Anxiety cause Stomach Pains, Dizziness, Diarrhea, and Flu Like Symptoms?
Stress can bring on all types of physical symptoms. many experience back problems, or headaches or stomach/GI problems. Feeling anxious makes your stomach produce excess acid. You hear that people have an ulcer? That is often a result from stress–and the acid eating away at the lining. Many people use Zantac (or prilosec) which helps control the stomach acid. many foods make acid reflux worse–caffeine (chocolate, cola, tea, coffee), also anything carbonated (sodas), and citrus-(orange juice, grapefruit) When you sleep, make sure your head and neck are elevated–use 3 pillows or rolled up towels/blankets. This helps keep the acid down where it should be! Do not eat for 3 hours before you lay down. I have been through all this with my mom- -the 3 “C”‘s you need to avoid; Caffeine, Citrus and Carbonated drinks. Your family doctor may be able to prescribe you something to relieve the anxiety.
