Can any diesel engine run on vegetable oil?

0

Yes, A diesel engine can generally run on any light to medium weight oil product. That said; modern diesel emissions-controlled engines are very picky about fuel quality. Fuel systems and engines can be damaged by not using the proper fuel and/or properly adjusting the engine. To run on vegetable oil the easiest way to do it is to start the engine running diesel fuel and slowly switch over to vegetable oil after it is warmed-up and running. Do an internet search for biodiesel for more info. The US Military has been running diesel trucks on everything from fuel oil to jet fuel since the mid sixties; with very few if any adjustments. By the way Jet fuel is essentially highly refined kerosene. Diesel fuel can also be mixed with clean waste oils and still be usable, barring emissions anyway.
