Can anyone explain the detailed difference between a facilities engineer and process engineer?

It really depends on the company you are working for as to what either type of engineer does. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and have carried both titles at one time or the other. The difference is really only in the name. At one time my boss asked me which title I wanted to have since my job always fit in either category. Facilities can cover just about everything in the book. When I was a facilities engineer I covered all of the disciplines from some of those for electrical engineering to some of those for a chemical engineer. As a process engineer I did everything from designing chemical processes to sizing heat exchangers to doing cost estimates and economics. The job or work is split where management says it is split. I have worked many projects where I was the only engineer and I did it all. There were others where I only had a very limited role.
