As far as the cost, that varies, b/c you pay the surgeon and hospital and anesthesia. BUT if you have insurance, they usually take care of most of it b/c it is considered medically necessary. As for the 20/20, that is an iffy question. With Corneal Transplants there are NO guarantees. Their goal is to get you to get some functional vision. With kerataconus, your vision will become more and more impaired possibly to the point of crippling. Are you able to wear contacts at this point? Or do glasses help correct your vision to a level that is comfortable for you? Most doctors work with patients to get good vision with glasses and contacts (hard lens eventually) before considering any surgery.
