Can babies have nightmares?

0

Sleepstudies have shown that babies do have nightmares just not like adults to. They can still be overstimulated or stressed too which can affect their sleep. My oldest son started having nightterrors at 6 months old. Some say it is a baby remember past lives that is affecting them, some say it is just the chemicals in their brain trying to balance out…I have heard many theories on it. I just know that my son had them at 6 months old and they were pretty bad sometimes. I know they have also done studies and have said they believe babies can dream and have nightmares while still inside the womb too.

“”From this it was seen that even newborn babies dream. In fact, although adults only spend about a third of their sleep period dreaming, babies spend 50 to 80 percent of sleep in dreams. Some researchers, carrying their investigation into the womb, state that at 24-30 weeks gestational age the unborn baby dreams a 100 percent.”” Hope this helps.

Babies have a sleep cycle of about 40 minutes which means they will wake after that time. (The same is true for adults, though it is a one hour cycle.) During the night, babies learn to quickly resettle between cycles. Sometimes something will disturb the resettling and some babies are not able to resettle as easily as others. If your baby wakes and cries, wait 2 minutes before going to her to allow her time to settle herself. If the cry lessens to a grizle, don’t go in as this is her resettling. Only go in if the intense crying starts again. If she is quiet and then starts crying again, wait for 2 minutes of crying as the crying often signals that she is trying to settle herself back to sleep. When my daughter was 6 months old, she started waking during the night. When we eventually went to sleep school, I discovered that by going to her straight away, I was disturbing her more and preventing her resettling. Good luck!

Babies are very susceptible to there environment, noises, lights, everything around them effects them. It is so important for babies not to even watch violent TV shows or movies. They are very aware about what is going on but the problem is they can not tell if its real life or fake. Babies do dream and they can sense bad things going on. They say even little babies can be effected from there parents fighting or violence in the home.
