Can baseboards be covered up with new trim, or do they have to be replaced completely?
You probably *could* find trim pieces that would allow you to cover up baseboards. But, you really don’t save anything by doing that. Pulling out old baseboards is relatively easy and the time/effort to install new trim is about the same whether you leave the old baseboards in place or remove them. I’d recommend that you replace the baseboards. That gives you more options about what kind of trim you put in their place. Good luck.
