Can being overweight cause miscarriages?

0

Overweight women have a higher risk for miscarriages but I know many women, myself included who have extra pounds but had perfectly healthy babies. You might want to ask your doctor to test you for other possibilities of why you aren’t going full term.

I wouldn’t think so but if you keep having miscarriages, you need to be checked for why you keep having them. You may have an incompetent cervix or you might not be producing enough hormone on your own to sustain the pregnancy. You should see a specialist before you try again to be on the safe side, a high risk doctor instead of a regular ob/gyn.

Being over weight hinders conception more then anything, but not miscarriages. It’s usually something else that is going on that caused the miscarriages, Have you been tested for Diabetes, checked to see if your cervix is ok or that you ovulate normally etc, Been tested for PCOS? I have pcos and from my own experience and from others pcos is often the number one reason for miscarriages in overweight women. I should know I’ve had 15 m/c’s alone due to pcos (not including the few chemical pg’s I had too). Maybe metformin will be beneficial for you to take, it lowers miscarriage rates greatly (again I shuld know it saved 2pg’s for me and now I have 2 beautiful girls, and ttc #3 now). Good Luck and all the best.
