Can carbon fibre bonnets on cars be painted different colours?

by ziffgone on September 5th, 2005 Absolutely. Carbon Fibre bonnets/hoods and/or other automotive parts can certainly be painted different colours. The main reason why most people leave the carbon fibre parts exsposed with a clear coat is simply to show off that they have spent a large amount of money on the specific part. Just a way of bragging the eccentricity of their parts. Others leave them bare simply because they like the “weave” look of carbon fibre, thinking it looks sportier. Most race cars you see on the JGTC, GTR, Rally and other racing series are almost completely covered in carbon fibre body parts. These parts are almost always covered in Race Team colours/sponsership decals. So there you have it, if you don’t feel it’s necessary to brag about having carbon fibre parts, and simply have them for the weight reduction benefits, feel free to paint them. Unlike Fibreglass parts, carbon fibre can be painted dark colours as well because carbon fibre is “baked” to gain it’s steng
