Unless there was some kind of concern about his stools prior to this cupcake incident and unless your son had had some abdominal injury prior to the cupcake incident,I would suspect that your are correct in asuming that the cupcakes were the culprit. Generally speaking stool that is as black as you are speaking of that might possibly contain blood would more than likely have a very distinct smell to it and it’s consistency would be more tacky (medical profession usually will call this type of stool “tar” stool because of it’s tackiness and smell). If son is not displaying any other symptoms,just watch him and notice his stools after a meal or two and I’ll betcha it is going to return to it’s normal state.
