Can David Beckham succeed when Bobby Moore wasn given a chance?
The big time’s loss was our gain and when Bobby Moore asked how you were, letting those blue eyes linger until the answer came, the true joy of a job on the coat-tails of football became apparent. He was working for Capital Gold, the London radio station. Moore, calm and proportionate, and Jonathan Pearce; they made an odd couple of broadcasters. But they were mates. They would clear up and lug away the equipment together. There was no sense of hierarchy and afterwards they might join the rest of us for a drink or something to eat.
