It’s simply a matter of a Discus is a tropical fish and Goldfish are cold water types, and not to mention, this is a MAJOR challenge that isn’t for everyone. I’ve conversed with some very professional fish keepers on other forums, and it’s very possible to get goldfish to adapt to tropical temps, but they won’t do quite as well. However, given the waste output of goldfish, even if you do this properly, and the high sensitivity of the Discus to water quality, this isn’t a good candidate to mix.
