Can Dole soft serve be consumed by people who are allergic to dairy?
Dole soft serve contains a very small amount of sodium caseinate which is a protein derived from milk. This ingredient is so highly processed that government officials do not consider it to be a dairy substance. As a result, Precision Foods is legally able to label Dole soft serve as “nondairy”. Nondairy coffee creamers also contain sodium caseinate. Due to the sensitive nature of some dairy allergies, Precision Foods encourages customers to use their own discretion when consuming Dole soft serve. As sodium caseinate is not a source of lactose, Dole soft serve is lactose free.
