Can Dostinex produce incorrect results when using ovulation predictor tests?
Dostinex is a medication that is utilized for the treatment of elevated prolactin. Prolactin is a hormone that is secreted by the pituitary gland and stimulates the breast to produce milk. There are a number of reasons why prolactin can be elevated, which include: 1.) small pituitary tumors, called microadenomas; 2.) various medications, including certain anti-depressants; 3.) excessive nipple stimulation; 4.) other hormonal abnormalities, such as low thyroid function; 5.) and various other, less common, causes. It is unlikely that the Dostinex is producing incorrect results from your ovulation prediction tests, as long as the Dostinex is controlling your elevated prolactin. It is likely that there may be other events working in conjunction, which may be affecting your ovulation process. I would recommend that you follow up with your reproductive endocrinologist for further evaluation.
