CAN GRANITE CHIP OR BREAK?
Abusive treatment and high impact may cause chipping. If you do have an accident, keep the pieces; they can usually be used to repair the damaged area. Fabrication and installation are usually the time when any fractures occur in granite. This is when the counter is subjected to various stresses caused by movement and unsupported weight. Once installed, it is unlikely that breakage will occur under normal day to day circumstances. Obviously, it is not recommended that you stand on, sit on or otherwise cause high stress to any granite surface.
