Can I attach more than 4 speakers to a DeckTunes unit?
The head unit included with DeckTunes is only intended to operate a maximum of 4 speakers however, if wired correctly, it is possible to drive more. Multiple speakers may be wired in one of two ways, in parallel or series. As long as the impedance of the speakers you intend on using is identical, between 4-8 Ohms and you wire them in parallel, this should be fine up to a total of two speakers per amplifier channel (4 amplifier channels – Front L/R and Rear L/R). When wiring speakers in parallel, the impedance, or electrical resistance, of each speaker is effectively reduced by 50 percent. For example, the impedance of two 4 ohm speakers in parallel will become 2 ohms each. Because the overall load on each amplifier channel is the same, as if only one 4 ohm speaker is connected, the volume of each speaker will remain the same as if it were connected in a single speaker pre channel configuration.
