Can i become pregnant right after my period even if I have an IUD?
With an IUD you can have irregular periods and spotting. You can also have very heavy periods with cramping. I have missed periods, and before the IUD my period was 5 days and now it varies from 3 to 7 sometimes. Sometimes I have severe cramps and sometimes I don’t. I doubt that you have become pregnant with an IUD because they are just as effective as sterilization, as long as they are in correctly. Not only does the device itself prevent egg fertilzation but the copper also kills sperm. So if it does come out of place, there is a secondary defense, albeit less effective. After you period you are supposed to check the IUD and make sure it is still in place by feeling for the string. I also check mine after sex. If the IUD is in correctly there should be no risk of getting pregnant because besides tubal ligation or abstinence, it is the most effective form of birth control. If you are still unsure, go to your gyn and have it checked.
