Can I catch Herpes From tortoises?

0

There is a herpes virus that is carried by turtles but it is not the same human herpes virus. The herpes virus carried by infected turtles is not infectious to humans. There are diseases that are carried by reptiles including turtles that can be transferred to humans. They are known as Zoonosis, the most well known is salmonella. To prevent transfer of any bacteria, fungus, virus or disease causing agent from your pets (dogs and cats included) practice good hygeine: wash your hands after handling your turtle, keep their food and equipment seperate from human items, and refrain from kissing your turtle.
