Yes. Discuss this matter with your advisor to create a well-planned program. Please explain the difference between an M.A. in Counseling Psychology and an M.S. in Counseling Psychology. Most students pursuing the M.A. expect to go into practice. A significant number do, however, go on to doctoral studies. Students pursuing an M.S. typically intend to pursue doctoral studies. Many also want to work in program evaluation or other research. The M.A. program does not require a thesis, whereas the M.S. program culminates with a research thesis.
