Can i do history or art as a degree and still be a primary school teacher?
Not normally. It may depend on the school system, but most require a certificate in K-6 (or something similar) that you could only get by taking education courses. I tried that with a Family & Consumer Science degree. Most districts require a bachelor’s in education or courses taken post-degree to earn Elementary-specific certification. Other options you might consider: Pursuing a Master’s in Teaching (receiving a certificate along the way) after art/history degree Pursuing a Education degree with specialization in art Pursuing art/history degree and trying to teach on an “emergency” certificate on middle or high school level Check with your desired district for specifics.
