Can I enrol a patient with a dense cataract?

No. EAGLE is trying to find out which is the best course of action for those with early, some, or no cataract. Most elderly people will have some degree of cataract, and if you and the patient are comfortable not doing cataract surgery for 3 years (if randomised to laser PI) then the patient would be eligible. This is a clinical judgement, and impossible to draw the line, as patients with early to moderate cataract and good vision and no visual symptoms are potentially eligible if you feel they will not need cataract surgery for visual reasons (unless it progresses).
