Pellets are better for smaller tanks, which bettas are typically kept in, because the fish is more likely to find and eat all the food. Flakes are more likely to cloud the water. Also, the betta food is specifically formulated for your betta’s nutritional needs. It is possible for them to live off of the regular food, but their quality of life will be better with the betta food.
