Can i get broadband without a bt/ntl line?

Most ISP use ASDL modems which compress data through a phone line, All phone lines are BT, which are rented out to the other providers or you pay BT directly, with all ASDL providers you need a phone line. NTL (now Virgin Media) are the only UK provider I am aware of that do not require a phone line (they do offer ASDL as well thou). However you need to confirm their network is “cabled” in your area. Enter your postcode here http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales… if cable is in your area then, NO, you do not require a phone line to get broadband….. BTW there are doing a month £10 2meg broadband offer till the end of August.
