You can hook up as long as you have an open IDE cable on either your primary or secondary Channel and if you have an avalable power plug. You also have a second channel used for two more IDE devices so you can install on your slave or cables select on your primary IDE Channel if you are replacing your current CD rom. You need to open your case and see if you have an open IDE plug on the same plug your Hard Drive is On if so Plug it in and Hook up the white power and your sound cable and boot up your system and if you have windows it should see it and show it in your windows explorer.
