Yes, but it depends on the operating system (Mac OS or Windows) used. Sonnet Tempo Serial ATA PCI, PCI-X, and PCIe (PCI Express) cards only support drive hot swapping when used in Mac computers running Mac OS. SATA drive hot swapping is not supported in a desktop or server PC running Windows XP, Server 2003 or Vista. A SATA drive appears to the system as a not-removable hard drive and there is no mechanism in Windows to prepare the drive for removal. Tempo SATA Express 34, an ExpressCard|34 card used with notebook computers, supports drive hot swapping in Mac and Windows notebook computers.
