Can I install SoundStop® Tackable Wall Panels over drywall or Vinyl Covered Gypsum (VCG) panels?
Yes. In fact, this is an excellent way to modernize walls that need to be painted or replaced. Our experience shows that the panels last for up to 15 years, which leads to considerable savings from not having to repaint walls every several years. By retrofitting SoundStop® Tackable Wall Panels over drywall or VCG, you are also saving labor costs of replacing drywall, adding sound deadening, tackability, and thermal insulation. You will also forgo the time, effort and mess of tearing down and replacing the existing gypsum product, including taping and sanding.
