Absolutely! Since the story-line for Ultima Obscura is a complete re-imagining of the entire canonical Ultima universe, no prior Ultima knowledge is required. Now if you’ve played any of the original games (and I highly recommend you do if you haven’t because they’re awesome) you will definitely recognize certain overlapping story elements, plot points, locations, and characters. Otherwise the most you’ll miss are maybe an inside joke or two.
