Can I replace dry yeast with instant yeast in a recipe?

Yes, substitute instant yeast in the same amount. You mix the instant yeast right in with all the other ingredients. You can skip the resting in warm water part, but use warm water to mix into the dry ingredients so the dough is slightly warm which will help it rise sooner. The mixing with sugar and warm water is necessary with dry yeast so it can dissolve properly before being mixed with the flour etc, but instant yeast will dissolve in the dough as you mix it.
