Can I return a used car to dealership?
First off – there are NO return laws giving you the right to return a used car. used car sales are as-is where-is, and final once the ink dries. There are people who often cite these mythical laws. But when pressed, they find that is simply not the case. Think about it. If you could “buy” a car then return it 10, 12, 14 days later, what would stop anyone from using this mechanism as a free rental? Want to take a trip? “Buy” a Mercedes, drive it a week, then return it. You can see why this is not feasible. Second – there are a LOT of thinks that can cause a check engine light to come on. It can acutally be something as simple as the gas cap (happened on my wife’s jeep). The only real way to know is to get someone to hook up an OBD-II scanner and read the fault code. That will tell you what the issue is. Whether its a gas cap, bad catalyitic converter, or a shorted out electrical system, it is yours to repair. You dont have a return priveledge.
