Probationary certification requires that an individual produce verification of employment by a school district, be admitted to the appropriate preparation program, be engaged in preparation coursework, and be engaged in internship coursework. . The Department of Educational Administration and Policy Studies requires that a graduate student successfully complete a minimum of 12 hours of Tarleton State University EDAD program coursework before being eligible for recommendation for the probationary principal certification. The probationary principal certification (for principal or assistant principal positions) and the probationary superintendent certification are valid for one year. Probationary certificates may be renewed twice upon evidence of adequate progress toward full certification.
