Because of the volume of applicants, the faculty members do not have the time to speak with prospective students. They focus on current students. If you are interested, you can schedule an informational interview with an admissions officer by emailing admissions-arts@columbia.edu or calling the admissions office at 212/854-2134. We will also try, when possible, to arrange for you to speak with a current student. It is not possible for prospective students to sit in on classes. Admitted students, however, can arrange to visit classes. Additionally, Visual Arts offers tours of their facilities during the academic year. Please check the website -- arts.columbia.edu for the schedule.
