Hi! The first question is did you change your name with the social security administration yet, and if you did how long ago was it? The name that you should use is the one on file with the social security administration on both the federal and the state returns. Once you request a name change throught social security it takes two weeks before you can file electronically with the IRS, so if you haven’t contacted social security yet don’t do it until after you have your refunds in hand. If you are worried about your name on the check not matching your ID here is what you do. You put down the first four letters of the name that social security has, a space and then your current ID last name. This will allow your return to be accepted by the IRS. Hope this helps.
