Can i switch from Air Force Reserve to Active duty?

0

The Air Force authorized just 29 prior service for active duty in 2009. Air national guard and reservist are considered prior service. Your chances of going active duty are basically zero. Right now, all they are taking, is former Security Force personal, who meet the requirements to retrain into Combat arms trainers. After Oct, they may offer a list of AFSC’s that are open to prior service. Basically they are jobs like CCT, Para rescue, SERE, You would have to retrain into one of those AFSC’s. Then you have to be released by your reserve commander, Most reserve units will not release anyone until they have been in the unit for two years. You will lose any Bonus you may have gotten and may have to repay part of any bonus you have already recieved.
