When you started the job or indeed accepted your job, you should have told them about what you had already booked If you didn’t, and they’ve put you into the rota, then there is nothing you can do unless thy agree to let somebody else cover you for that shift Your employer can sack you, if they haven’t given you the right to be off shift, and you take it off against their authority

Yes you can take a pre-booked holiday from a new job. When I accepted a previous job I told them that I had already booked a holiday with my family, and if I was forced to cancel my family would lose an awful lot of money.
