Can I take my usual medications before I come for a Myelogram?
Patients must refrain from taking anticoagulants (blood thinners), (Coumadin, Heparin) for 5 days prior to the examination. To do this, permission must be obtained from the physician that has prescribed this medication for the patient. PT and INR lab work must be done 4-5 days after the patient stops taking the anticoagulant to determine blood clotting time.
