Can I use CD/DVD SpeedTools and DirectCD for my CD recordable drive at the same time?
A. Unfortunately, not. Like CD/DVD SpeedTools, DirectCD is a device driver. The Macintosh does not allow more than one device driver to control a device at a time. However, most people do not burn CDs as often as they read them. So, the work around for those who wish to use DirectCD for burning and who wish to use SpeedTools for their CD reading tasks will have to create multiple extension sets using the Extensions Manager Control Panel. Then you can toggle back and forth between CD/DVD SpeedTools and DirectCD device drivers depending on your requirement with a simple restart. Back to top ……
