Can I use cocoa butter on my babies skin and take 3 month old to beach?
Once you put the infant sunscreen on, I think you won’t need the cocoa butter. The baby sunscreen is pretty thick in consistency….sort of leaves a coating on their skin. Also, you don’t want it to interfere with the sunscreen. Separately from going to the beach, I don’t know if I would try Cocoa butter or anything else not designed specifically for baby on my baby until he/she is at least 6 months old. But that is a personal choice. You really want to watch your baby’s body temperature ….. not sure what beach you are going to….but shade and sunscreen may not be enough if it is going to be really warm and tropical.
I actually just asked my SIL (who’s a ped.) yesterday about sunscreen and babies under 6 months. The sunscreen I have (water babies) says to ask a dr for use under 6 months. She told me that the reason is that they absorb the stuff in the sunscreen, and it’s too much for them when they’re that small (or something along those lines, I may not have it exactly right, I’m a sleep deprived mom) 😉 She also told me that she recommends to her patients that they not use sunscreen until 1 year old. So if it were me and my little guy, I’d dress him in lightweight clothes and keep him in the shade.
