Can I use PerfectPass in a stern drive or 6 cylinder boat?
Many Stern Drive boats can use PerfectPass. The challenge is the throttle to engine interface. First of all the throttle must pull the carb or fuel injection unit(FIU) to make the boat go faster rather than push it. If your boat pushes, many times you can take apart your throttle lever and reroute the cable to the other side of the cam and make it pull. You would then need to reroute your cable in the engine compartment as well to the other side of the carb or FIU and add a throttle return spring. The next challenge is to insure the PP throttle cable will connect to the end of your cable. If you have a 6 cylinder motor, just be sure to order the 6 cylinder software when you order your system from us. Many of our customers have installed PP units on stern drive boats and love them.
