No…the recovery disk is based on OS *and* hardware. While the basic equipment might be similar, the fact that the chipsets are different will likely cause issues with the disk if/when it tries to install a driver that can’t be used. If you need a recovery disk for your new laptop…create one. It’s an easy enough process…in fact, they’ve made it almost literally “Idiot Proof” by using a Wizard to do it for you. What you can do is contact HP and ask for either an ISO image of a recovery disk for your older laptop, or a physical disk sent to you. Alternatively, you can use your System Restore, or even reset to factory settings. Good Luck!
