Can law offices(collection agency) call you at work?

A debt collector may not call you at work if he/she knows that your employer prohibits these types of calls. However, if your employer does accept debt collectors calls, you may send a letter to the debt collector stating that he/she is not to contact you at your place of employment. If the debt collector continues to make contact with you at your place of employment after receiving the letter he/she is violating the law. In addition, when you write the letter you can included in your letter that he/she is not to contact you at all, if he/she continues to call you on the phone, it is against the law. I would suggest that you send the letter via certified letter with return receipt requested. However, by informing the debt collector not to make contact with you via the phone, this does not discharge your debt. Best wishes.
