Can leaking oil cause check engine light to come on?

No, the check engine light does not come on because of low oil level. Despite the misconception that others have posted on here. A solid check engine light can be something harmless, or something serious. You can have it scanned for free at autozone and they will tell you the trouble code. Dont let them talk you into buying anything cause they usually have no actual diagnostic skills and just want to sell parts. The only time a CEL will actually blink is if you have an engine misfire, which DOESNT require having to be towed, but you should drive it to a shop immediately because engine misfires will damage the catalytic converter, which can be an expensive repair. Hope this helps.
