Can marss atmosphere make shooting stars?
Hey! Good question. I would think meteors are just as likely on Mars, given what I understand about them here. Most meteors we see, are burning up in the atmosphere where the air is much thinner than it is at sea level, and probably thinner than most of Mars’ atmosphere. In fact, I’ll bet they’re even better on Mars because they would be closer to the surface when they burn up. I’m not so sure I’d want to watch a meteor shower there, though. Quite a few of those little rocks probably make it to the ground. And with the thin atmosphere, they might still be going several kilometers per second when they hit.
