Can MEM detect problems before they impact the network?

0

MEM’s Common Web Desktop features provides a web portal to the fault management capabilities within MEM and is also the launch point for other MEM applications. Users can create customized filters to view data by severity, service, geography, or other user-defined criteria. Through the collection of fault information from the network, including alerts when configured thresholds are crossed, the operator can be made aware problems before impacts are seen by users. This capability will be expanded with the introduction of support for 802.1ag and Y.1731 Through utilization of ITU Y.1731 performance monitoring capabilities on the network elements, to set loss, delay, and jitter thresholds for data traffic, MEM can display the stats and receive threshold events from these network elements. If specified thresholds are exceeded, event notifications will be sent to MEM.
