Regulation 12VAC30-50-226.B.6 states “Mental health support services shall be defined as training and supports to enable individuals to achieve and maintain community stability and independence in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment.” These services should be provided to individual recipients; not groups, not pairs, and not roommates. There is no age limit for this service. The intent of the service is to achieve and maintain community stability and independence, which may not be appropriate for some children/adolescents. In addition, providers are to provide this service in accordance with their DMHMRSAS Supported Living Residential License or Supportive Residential License (Provider Manual Chapter VI, page 15).
