Can Mepitel be used under the foam dressing used with wound vac equipment?
Mepitel is a soft silicone wound contact layer. A wound contacts layers’primary function is to prevent trauma to the wound surface from any applied cover dressing. When used under the foam that comes with the VAC equipment it prevents the foam from sticking to the wound surface at the same time as it allows the transport of exudate from the wound into the foam. Mepitel is often used together with the VAC with good result.
