Yes, your child can receive speech services, even if he goes to a private school. While the private school is not required to provide any special education services, the public school district you live in IS required to provide your child special services if he is eligible. In order to determine eligibility, your child must go through a Speech Multifactored Evaluation (MFE). If he qualifies for services, he will be put on a Speech Individual Education Plan (IEP). Many kids from private schools go to their neighborhood public schools for speech services… this is not uncommon and your child does not have to transfer to the public school to receive these services. I do not think the speech pathologist is required to deliver those services at the private school facility (maybe they would if numbers were high enough), however, if you can transport your child to the public school for services, he is entitled to any and all services he is eligible for.
