Can my goldfish go in with my male betta?

While male bettas can definetly be kept in community tanks with other fish species as long as they are the only male, it may be best to not keep them together since both have diffrent water conditions. The goldfish is a cold water fish and is incredibly messy, producing a lot of waste products that dirty up a tank quickly which means goldfish really need a large tank to live in as opposed to goldfish bowls which are pretty inhumane actually. Your betta on the other hand is a tropical fish species that likes warmer water that is frequently cleaned. Also, most goldfish tend to grow very large and while generally peaceful in community tanks when small they can be aggressive once they get to larger sizes and bettas would need to kept with very peaceful fish if its in a community tank. Also you need to consider what sort of fins your goldfish has. If its one of the more ornate long finned varieties the betta will prolly attack it.
